Want to learn & MAKE with us?

We’re on the hunt for 24 Learning Circle Participants, a handful of Design Fellows, and one kick-ass Embedded Film-Maker. We’re taking applications up until 30 October at Soon, we’ll also be looking for a a Social Psychology Fellow…so stay tuned for more role descriptions!

Learning Circle Participants work for a government agency, not-for-profit, or neighborhood association in Ontario and are super curious about what a Grounded Change approach looks like in practice, and how to apply core concepts to their own work. We’ll offer immersive learning experiences over six months, in exchange for three hours a week of your time from mid-November to early-May. We highly encourage pairs of colleagues to apply. We’ve seen how much farther you can get with change when you have a partner in crime. Download the Learning Circle application, and send us answers to the questions by October 30.

Design Fellows might have trained as graphic, interaction, industrial, service, or systems designers. Whatever your background, you’re an insightful listener, quick maker, and perceptive experimenter. You are able to create physical materials, delightful spaces, and sketch or even build back-end systems. You’ll be able to spend anywhere from 8-24 weeks with us. Fellows will receive a living stipend and heaps of on-the-ground experience. We see the role as a great fit for designers wanting to gain exposure to the enigmatic social world – you might have just finished school or are looking for a career change. Download the Design Fellow application, and send us your portfolio and answers to the questions by October 30.

The Embedded Film-Maker is a compelling storyteller, totally comfortable with shooting, interviewing, script writing, and editing. You will spend time on-the-ground with us and create mini-documentaries highlighting the realities of change. We’re not interested in producing promotional puff pieces. We want to create honest and emotional portraits of the team and the ideas emerging. Download the Embedded Film-maker application, and send us your reel and answers to the questions by midnight on October 30.

*All pictures come from our work in British Columbia with The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion, Simon Fraser Society for Community Living, and posAbilities. There, we’ve been testing how to build an alternative to disability day services, called Kudoz, and enabling Research & Development capacity through Fifth Space.
